I like to ride my bicycle….

So having got our bikes and really starting to enjoy being able to go a bit further in our exercise time, we took a new route along the canal way. The path is really well laid and perfect for walking/ cycling….. Most of the way…

Towards the end of the path there’s no gravel and it just fades into a dried up, narrowing mud path full of ridges and bumps. We didn’t see anyone for ages and then there was a couple up ahead. They heard us coming and kindly stepped to the side to let us past but as I got nearer to them, whilst trying to keep control, go quickly past them and shouting my ‘Thank-Yous’, I managed to fall off. Right in line with them. *Insert awkward moment of the man trying to show he wanted to help me and me, red faced, trying to slide my leg from underneath the bike and get back on and on my way again*.

After the canal we took the longer route home as we still had loads of time and James wanted to be able to zoom on ahead a bit.

I was day-dreaming, thinking about how much I was enjoying myself and following what was now a spec in the distance turning off to the right. After a while I thought it was a bit off that he hadn’t stopped to wait/ check on me so my enjoyment started to turn to a grump. I carried on, pounding the pedals and thinking about how cross I was, untill I got to the roundabout and saw the cyclist up ahead turning into a driveway. His driveway. Not ours. I’d been following the wrong cyclist and had lost James. James had been waiting for 10 minutes back on the other road, just on from where I had turned right.

Aside from the cycling, I’ve done the food shopping for the lady down the road and sat baking in the sun whilst doing some jobs on the laptop.

Despite the minor mishaps and the chronic saddle-bum pains, I’m loving this cycling malarkey.
